Glad you found us!
We are the ones who run Gotland Originals. We are two childhood friends who have always started different creative projects together. We wrote comic books as kids, built an ice cream stand in our early teens, and made short films in our late teens.
When we got a little older, it was a natural next step for us to create a company together, where we now get to be creative full time! Contributing to the environmental cause is a big bonus and feels really good!
We grew up in Uppsala but never really felt at home there. We've always dreamt of the simpler life, somewhere far away.
After graduation, Leo moved abroad to study, while Sebastian ended up on the island of Gotland.
Sebastian fell in love with Gotland the moment he set foot there. Together with some friends, he started the project Gotlands bivaxdukar (Gotland's beeswax wraps) from his student dorm, mostly as a fun thing to do on weekends.
Despite some local interest, not much came of the project due to school and low interest from the other people involved...
It all would change one late evening in 2021 when Leo and Sebastian were talking on the phone. Sebastian mentioned the beeswax project and about his new life on Gotland, and convinced Leo to come visit.
Once there, it didn't require much convincing for Leo to fall in love with the island as well, and we immediately decided to commit wholeheartedly to the project.
We now call Gotland our home. The idea of living anywhere else seems crazy.
When we started the business at the dawn of 2021, we exclusively made beeswax wraps. Today we're also making beeswax candles, beeswax rolls, fire starters, and mini-fireplaces (and a lot more is on the way!)
These days, we have a small team of five people who work very hard to grow the company. Nothing would be possible if it wasn't for our WONDERFUL customers.
We still can't grasp that over 40,000 real people have chosen to support us. It's ABSOLUTELY UNREAL!

Our big, long-term goal is to have a positive impact on the world around us, while we get to do something completely unique (and have a lot of fun along the way!)
We do this by continuing to improve the quality and experience of our products, and we are constantly working to expand the product range. When considering a product, our requirements are that it must be manufactured by ourselves, and that it must have a sustainable purpose. No junk products intended for single use.
Most importantly, though, is that we have really, really fun together.
